The other day, I was kind of bored out of my mind and scrolling down endlessly on TikTok, til I found myself on a side of the app I was completely unfamiliar with: Clay artists. When I tell you it’s like something got awakened in me, I am not kidding! The aesthetic and cute-things lover in me was simply over the moon as I kept scrolling down the tags and accounts on there. Let me tell you something, there are some clay artists that literally blew my mind, and the stuff they make out of clay is simply gorgeous!

Honestly, I never thought that I could ever see myself trying out sculpting or making stuff with clay. It’s not that I’m not a creative or artistic person, it’s just that I’m more used to drawing or making digital art for example. That is to say that I have never actually used my own two hands to make a tangible creation that I could hold between my fingers. But seeing so much of those amazing works, and seeing how relaxing it seemed to be, I just caved in and got myself an air dry clay kit for beginners so I can try it out on my own.

I thought of getting this one so I can kinda mess around by myself and see how it turns out. If I see that it’s fun and easy to pick up, I’ll be sure to get around and organize a play date with my little nieces so we can have a little DIY session where we’d create cute charms that I’ve seen on TikTok. And since I’m already down the rabbit hole, I thought that I’d share with you some ideas and projects that I found that you could definitely follow through with to make your own stuff with clay at home!

Without further ado, I’ll let you check these out! I’ll also link some of the necessary tools so you can check them out on the same page if needed. I hope these will inspire your creativity, enjoy!

Air Dry Clay Magnets

We’re starting off with clay magnets! This is definitely on my clay to-do list as I absolutely want to make cat clay magnets in this style. The video I found from gazoo studio is really simple and clear in my opinion. The process is clearly laid out and I think you could easily follow along the video and make your own magnets out of clay. Their designs are also super cute, and it’s overall super lovely in my opinion!

Air Dry Clay Phone Holder

This tutorial by Little Button Diaries on HobbyCraft is one that I found to be simple yet so cute and creative. As someone who leaves her phone in the darndest places around, I feel like this could be a good thing to make and have on hand. Also, you gotta love the cute bee decor!

Air Dry Clay Trays and Trinket Dishes

This is yet another video from gazoo studio that’s simply way too adorable to pass on! I literally went crazy over the pancake dish, and while I don’t think it’s going to be easy for me to try this out right now, as a beginner (Yes, I don’t trust myself too much), I’ll definitely be attempting this in the future. You can see for yourself how adorable these dishes are, and I think they’d go very well in a soft, pastel aesthetic house or bedroom!

Air Dry Clay Aesthetic Trinket Trays

This is another style of dishes and trays that are definitely worth checking out in my opinion. Mothball shows their making process pretty well in this video. Honestly, I really loved the checkered dish and the heart one is just as cute. Once again I think these would be perfect for a teen’s bedroom so they can put their jewelry there or some of their trinkets.

Air Dry Clay Yarn Bowl

I am not a knitter but I figured out this bowl could easily be used as a trinket bowl or something. It’s definitely something children would love, love, love! It comes in the form of a cute whale and I’m astonished at the creativity behind this DIY! You can follow along Amy Clarke’s steps here

Air Dry Clay Home Decor

I don’t about you but when I first saw the finished items from this project, I initially thought it was some kind of very expensive home decor that you’d see on those aesthetic boujie stores! But no, it turns out that it’s stuff that can be done at home with air dry clay, and it’s mindblowing to me. Jana Storm walks you through her making process from shaping to carving to painting, and she also uses ground coffee to paint, which I didn’t even know was possible!

Air Dry Clay Plant Pots

It wouldn’t do to talk about DIY projects and not include one that shows how to make planters for our beloved plants. I feel like the Green and artistic folks are definitely going to love this one. I really liked Ivett DIY’s video and the mushroom planter was just so cute in my opinion! The other planter was definitely cute too.

Air Dry Clay Napkin Holder

I would’ve never thought to use clay to make a napkin holder, but looking back on it, this idea is simply genius! I feel like it leaves a lot of flexibility to make it as customized as you’d like. And this tutorial shows some easy steps to follow along with.

Air Dry Clay Wall Hanging Decor

I absolutely loved this DIY by Simply by A. and I simply cannot express how much I loved the cacti wall decor! That’s definitely on my to-do list once I get better at this whole making stuff out of clay practice! The video process is once again very clear and easy to follow along, so I really encourage you to watch through it if you want to recreate the same decor for your house.

Air Dry Clay DIY Candle Holder

I’m usually not one to have candles around the house (I have a very, very, very curious cat that isn’t the brightest, let’s say!), but this clay project made me want to buy a pack of candles just so that I can make some holders and flaunt them around the house. It’s got that classy, oldie-but-goodie aesthetic, and you can easily follow along with this video by Joolie for the steps for making it! There are also various shapes so you can even pick the design you want.

Clay Salt Measuring Spoons

Mollie Makes from Gathered over here has the cutest DIY for spoons! These are salt spoons so they aren’t supposed to be in direct contact with foods that are to be ingested (like a soup or yogurt or something like that) but I still think that they’re definitely a good decor DIY to make! They’re super easy to paint as well and you’ll find yourself with the most adorable kitchen addition in no time, especially since you can customize them so easily.

Air Dry Clay DIY Flowers Mirror

I do not know if you’ve already seen this on TikTok, but this flower mirror was actually one of the first products I saw that made me want to try my hand out at clay-making! I found a simple and easy tutorial to follow, and it’s definitely going to be one of the projects I pick up in the future!

Air Dry Clay Cactus Jewelry Holder

I’ve kept going with my love for cactus-themed decor with this jewelry holder! I already have plans to follow along with this tutorial by Suzi Kagi on here. I feel like pastel colors would go really well with this design and I can’t wait to try it out!

Air Dry Clay Incense Holder

For this last DIY with Clay, we’re going with an incense holder! This is definitely something I would love to make for my grandma in the future since she loves to light incense around her house. I love the simplistic yet aesthetic design of the holders and I’d love to replicate them and decorate them with some gold or leaf patterns maybe! I’m excited at the idea of trying this tutorial out
